How payment works.
You can pay for anything on VIA in one of two ways: by card, or from a crypto wallet holding USDC on Base. Both are offered side by side at checkout. Here is the whole thing in plain language.
How do I pay?
Add your details (email, and a delivery address for anything that ships), then choose Card or Crypto wallet and press Pay. The seller is notified at once to fulfil your order, and your receipt comes by email.
Paying by card
Stores that have connected Stripe take cards on the seller's own Stripe account. You pay on a secure Stripe page, your statement shows the seller, and no wallet or crypto is needed. Card payment through Stripe is available on orders of 5 USD or more.
Stores that have not connected Stripe yet take cards through MoonPay, our card partner, on orders of 50 USD or more. Your card is charged exactly the order total, with no card fee for you. The first time, MoonPay may ask you to verify your identity, and it blocks VPN connections, so turn any VPN off first.

Paying from a crypto wallet
Choose Crypto wallet, then connect a wallet you already have (MetaMask, Coinbase Wallet or WalletConnect), or create one in seconds with your email or Google. You approve one payment of USDC on Base and it settles instantly, with no card fee. Holding USDC in a wallet you cannot connect here? Choose Send a transfer, send the exact amount yourself, and confirm it with the transaction hash.
What is USDC?
USDC is a digital dollar, a stablecoin. One USDC is worth about one US dollar. It moves instantly and the price you see is the price you pay.
Are there fees for me?
No. You pay the price shown at checkout, shipping included. Card processing fees are paid by the seller, not by you. Topping up a wallet or VIA credits by card is different: MoonPay adds its card fee on top of the top-up.
Where does my money go?
The seller receives 97.5% of the order value and VIA keeps 2.5% to run the network, shipping included. On a card payment through Stripe, the seller is paid by Stripe directly, less Stripe's card fee. On a USDC payment, the seller's share goes to their wallet on Base.
Refunds
Contact the seller with your order reference. A card payment through Stripe is refunded to your card. A USDC payment is refunded in USDC once the refund is approved.
Buying through an AI agent
A Personal Shopper or other buying agent pays in USDC, hands you a link to pay by card yourself, or asks you to approve a card payment in the VIA app. An agent never asks for your card details: if one does, do not share them.
